The Gillespie Approach- CFT  3 Day Infant Training

The Gillespie Approach 3 day Infant Class teaches students the techniques developed by Dr. Gillespie to treat newborns and pre-crawling babies. The Baby Brain Score (BBS) will be presented which is a screening tool that measures neonatal neurophysiology at birth.  It is an effective method of manually checking the brain function of a newborn. If there is structural and neurological compromise, Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) may help correct the negative effects of fetal and birth traumas. CFT may prevent many long term chronic conditions from appearing later in life and more importantly, promote optimum cognitive brain function as well as structural cranial development.

The class will include lecture on infant-birth trauma and conditions that may benefit from CFT. Techniques will be demonstrated and students will have ample opportunity to practice on babies with instructor supervision.

Fetal and birth trauma can cause conditions of serious brain injury. This includes autism, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy, to less severe nervous system conditions such as ADHD, strabismus, dyslexia and speech disorders.  Other common pediatric conditions that may be caused by fascial strain and birth trauma are colic, esophageal reflux, constipation, digestive issues, nursing/latch issues, sleeping issues, asthma, earache, headache, rhinitis, neck ache, jaw pain, and scoliosis.

  1. The benefits of CFT may be felt by the entire family by creating a more peaceful family environment. With a happy and content baby, parents feel more rested because they are not always consoling a fussy baby. Siblings experience better quality time from parents and can enjoy their new happy sibling. This healthy family dynamic flows into all areas of life.

  2. CFT may contribute to excellent infant neurological development. The Family Hope Center reports that children in their infant program have reached their neurological developmental milestones 30% faster than those not receiving CFT.

  3. CFT may facilitate the ability to latch on and prevent sucking and swallowing difficulties, colic, reflux, gas, digestive issues, constipation, poor napping, general distress, stridor, torticollis, pyloric stenosis, and clubfoot.

  4. Early CFT intervention may result in structural immunity where subsequent physical trauma has little or no effect on structural health.

  5. CFT may prevent future childhood conditions like asthma, headache, ADHD, learning disorders, and other conditions.

  6. CFT may  contribute to a better neurological learning environment where focus, concentration, memory, thinking, and other cognitive functions may be maximized.

  7. Ultimately, CFT may result in children who can become the best version of themselves.

23 CEU Hours NCBTMB

Participants will learn: CFT - The Gillespie Approach

  • History & theory of CFT

  • Anatomy structures of the Craniosacral Fascial System

  • How to assess the brain cycle

  • How to palpate the sacral cycle

  • How to engage fascia for global release in the body

  • Dural tube release for optimum flow of cerebrospinal fluid

  • Fascial release of oral structures

  • How to release the four main CFT structures

  • How to feel fascial strain patterns

  • How to feel fascia thru sensory activities

  • Proper body mechanics while performing CFT

What is CFT?
Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) is the work of Dr. Barry Gillespie. Based on his theory that the Craniosacral and Fascial systems are not separate, but one interconnected system, CFT blends two established modalities: Cranial Sacral Therapy and Myofascial Release, into a single, highly effective therapy.

This intricate system originates in the body's core around the brain and spinal cord and extends through the body's fascial web which surrounds and permeates every structure down to the cellular level. A healthy system allows for the free flow of Cerebrospinal fluid from the brain, down the spine, to the sacrum, and into the connective tissue (fascia). Strain anywhere in that system may affect brain function and mobility. Our brains must expand and contract, and any restrictions or damage to this motion, such as those due to difficult birth or head injury, can greatly effect our health and wellbeing.

CFT techniques are designed to gently unwind accumulated fascial strain, allowing optimal mobility and therefore better brain function. When the Craniosacral Fascial system is loose and open, there is optimal flow of cerebrospinal fluid to help nourish the body and cleanse toxins.

The Brain has to breathe. The Fascia has to be free.

All of us have experienced trauma. Difficult birth, surgery, auto accidents, falls, concussions. dental/orthodontics, vaccinations. and emotional trauma to name a few.

What you will learn

This is the foundation for mastering CFT. During this hands on learning three day seminar, you will explore the Craniosacral fascial system. You will learn gentle, yet powerful techniques with a great deal of treatment being exchanged during the seminar. Most participants find it personally and professionally transforming.

CFT can also be used to enhance or compliment other therapy. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, though no prior medical or bodywork experience is required to attend the training. Parents are encouraged to learn CFT so they can obtain the skills needed to work on their children.

Workshops with CFT Global are hands-on and practical. A great deal of treatment is exchanged during the training, giving participants lots of time to practice and feel confident about using CFT techniques. CFT Global's teaching methods also incorporate sensory training and grounding exercises for strengthening crucial right brain awareness. Participants find it personally and professionally transforming.
